Jessica is quoted as saying “people expect athletes to be on a really strict diet but it’s about making sure you’ve got the energy to complete and recover, not dieting. I have a really sweet tooth, but I train hard so I can enjoy the odd chocolate brownie safe in the knowledge I will burn it off”.
Jessica can afford to indulge now and then with her strict training routine. For several hours a day she combines a mixture of weights, sprints and plyometric drills (jumping for strength and stamina).
Jessica’s coach Tony Minichiello recommends running short distances fast with a short recovery in between so the body gets used to working hard. This achieves faster results than a longer, slower run.
A mixture of good nutrition and exercise is key to an Olympian body. While we can’t promise that you will end up looking like Jessica love your body and nurture it well – it’s amazing.
