When I think of the word hypnosis, images of a swinging pendulum held by a creepy guy getting you to do strange things against your will (e.g. bark like a dog) in front of a wildly laughing audience come to mind. Of course, I’ve never experienced this in real life, I just watched too much television growing up. As I grew older, I heard of hypnosis aiding in weight-loss and helping smokers cease their addiction. But, I never examined it further.

When I was asked to review Eldon Taylor’s new book Self-Hypnosis and Subliminal Technology, I had the opportunity to discover more about this topic I had considered taboo in the past. Taylor puts one’s concerns about hypnosis to rest immediately as he shares how useful hypnosis can be and gives you the tools to start using these powerful techniques (which take mere affirmations to the next level) in your own life.

It is fascinating how the inner world of our mind affects our physical world. Taylor sites studies on multiple personality disorder which found that a subject’s change in personality was accompanied by physical changes, such as a change in eye color and it was discovered different personalities suffered different ailments. The person in one personality may be completely normal, while the same person with a different personality had diabetes or hypoglycemia.

It proves the point that if our inner world is having such an impact on our outer world, taking the time to nurture our inner thoughts and feelings and being able to control and direct them would lead to many positive benefits and greater enjoyment in our physical world.

So what do you need to get started? Other than this book, you just need you. Taylor takes you through the steps, explaining each step in detail as well as the importance behind each one. There is even an accompanying CD that comes with the book so you can experience the exercises in addition to reading them. You are even given the tools to create your own subliminal CD to change your inner talk to enhance your outer life. To give you a glimpse of the power of such a program:

“The findings from a longitudinal study on the Whole Brain InnerTalk program for cancer showed that 43 percent of the patients who used the program went into remission. For the other patients, who eventually passed away, the average life span was significantly extended beyond the original prognosis.”

If you are ready to take the steps to create your best life (and if you are reading this you certainly are ready), I highly recommend picking up a copy of Self-Hypnosis and Subliminal Technology to gain the tools and techniques required  to get you there more quickly and easily.
